Local partners may no longer create their own YouTube accounts.
Every local partner with video content will get their own playlist on SU’s YouTube channel to keep your specific content together. You’ll continue to be able to promote and share a feed of your own YouTube video links as you always have.
Why are we doing this?
Better SEO: Separate YouTube channels for smaller communities are not easily discoverable. In fact, we all compete with each other for SEO and video views. Over 25% of our video views come from visitors already viewing content on our channel, meaning that if we all share a subscriber base, all of our varied video content is likely to perform better. A rising tide lifts all boats!
Discoverability: With a shared YouTube channel, we’re able to promote and elevate the best video content on our social media and other channels. With separate YouTube accounts, we miss a lot of your best content!
Efficient Copyrights Management: We receive copyright claim notices against YouTube videos on a near-daily basis, as do our partners. While these are mostly innocuous, they represent a very serious legal threat to both SU HQ and local business partners. Centralizing content on one channel allows us to track claims and respond to each as needed.
Brand Consistency: We’re able to ensure consistent branding and quality on video content globally.
